Welcome to The Japan-Virginia Society.

The Japan-Virginia Society (JVS) was founded in 1988 with the sponsoring leadership of Governor Gerald L. Baliles (1986-1990) and Ambassador Nobuo Matsunaga from Japan. The Society is a non-profit, non-political, educational membership organization.

The mission of The Japan-Virginia Society is dedicated to developing international cooperation, cultural understanding and sensitivity, and trade and investment between the citizens and businesses of the country of Japan and the Commonwealth of Virginia .

The Society and its programming are supported by a diverse membership of American and Japanese companies, economic development organizations, academic institutions, and individuals and families. New members of the Society are always welcome and if you or your organization have an interest in helping to bridge the Japanese and Virginia communities, please contact us concerning membership categories.
